About our Group

The Stafford Group of Advanced Motorists was established on the 24^th May 1995 with the support of the Walsall Group and the Region 3 Organizer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists.

The intention was to provide a Stafford based Group of Advanced Motorists affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists covering Stafford, central, and west Staffordshire. 

Membership gradually increased from the original 61 people to the present number of 116. Since 1995 the Stafford Group has added a thriving Motorcycle Section and has succeeded in preparing over 280 drivers and riders to take the Advanced Tests – for cars, motorcycles and mini buses.

The main focus of the Stafford Group is to prepare and support drivers and riders on a one to one basis, providing individual opportunities for developing road skills to the point where the Advanced Tests can be tackled with optimism. We hold regular monthly meetings on the last Wednesday in almost every month at Hopton Village Hall starting at 8.00pm and these evenings are a mixture of fun, education, hands on experience and debate.  Once you have passed the Test, our group Membership Subscription currently stands at £10.00 and for this we provide 10 meetings a year and regular Newsletters. You also have the opportunity to re-test yourself throughout the year on organized drive outs with other Group members.
